Question - GSLB Initial Configuration

Hello all,

I’m just a bit confused when it comes to configuring my new A10 vThunder ADC/SLB with GSLB. I have been attempting to configure it per A10’s documentation, Would someone be willing to explain it a bit more for how its done in the GUI?

I have 4 vThunders (2 per data center) and so far has 1 partition not including the shared partition (I plan on creating more once I get this figured out). Just to make asking the question easier I’ll use simple IPs. Lets say here is what I’m working with below, what would be the proper way for me to go about configuring GSLB? I’ve attempted to use the built in app to setup the GSLB connection, but that didn’t work out. Also tried following the docs and it still seemed a little confusing for me.

Data center 1 - vThunder 1   (aVCS=10.4.1.10)

Shared

  • Mgmt - 10.4.1.11   (10.4.1.1 /24)

Partition 1

  • Data - 10.1.1.11   (10.1.1.1 /24)   VRRP=10.1.1.10
  • Data - 10.3.1.10   (10.3.1.1 /16)   VRRP=10.3.1.9 (not sure if this is a good idea to try doing with a stretched subnet)

Data center 1 - vThunder 2   (aVCS=10.4.1.10)

Shared

  • Mgmt - 10.4.1.12   (10.4.1.1 /24)

Partition 1

  • Data - 10.1.1.12   (10.1.1.1 /24)   VRRP=10.1.1.10
  • Data - 10.3.1.11   (10.3.1.1 /16)   VRRP=10.3.1.9 (not sure if this is a good idea to try doing with a stretched subnet)

Data center 2 - vThunder 1   (aVCS=10.5.1.10)

Shared

  • Mgmt - 10.5.1.11   (10.5.1.1 /24)

Partition 1

  • Data - 10.2.1.11   (10.2.1.1 /24)   VRRP=10.2.1.10
  • Data - 10.3.1.12   (10.3.1.1 /16)   VRRP=10.3.1.10 (not sure if this is a good idea to try doing with a stretched subnet)

Data center 2 - vThunder 2   (aVCS=10.5.1.10)

Shared

  • Mgmt - 10.5.1.12   (10.5.1.1 /24)

Partition 1

  • Data - 10.2.1.12   (10.2.1.1 /24)   VRRP=10.2.1.10
  • Data - 10.3.1.13   (10.3.1.1 /16)   VRRP=10.3.1.10 (not sure if this is a good idea to try doing with a stretched subnet)

Communication

TCP/UDP port 4149 used between GSLB controller and site devices for metric information exchange and among controllers for config sync.

HA

Two A10 vThunder ADC/SLB VMs (Active/Standby) at each datacenter.

GSLB DNS Configuration

Creating a new delegation for my lookup zone, so DSN can still be authoritative for AX your domain (domain.com ) and it forwards only specific DNS requests to your GSLB Controller for specific names (gslb.domain.com for instance)
