Do we have a process of adding a secondary unit to current active standalone A10 device and bringing both on them into Active-Standby cluster? Are there any caveats to be noted ?

It depends on what ACOS version you have running. Legacy HA is only supported in 2.7 and 4.1 will not support Legacy HA. The 4.1 code will only support VRRP-A. Check on ACOS tech notes on our support page.
