There are several ways to do this. If the Virtual Machine you want to "download" is VMWare ESXi, then you can export it to an OVA which will contain both the disk as well as the provisioning configuration. If that Virtual Machine is a KVM VM you will need to convert the disk file (usually qcow2 format) to what VMWare expects which is a vmdk file. In that case you will need to note the KVM settings and duplicate those for your VMWare Workstation environment. Hope that helps.
